When you file your own tax return, can someone else claim you on their tax return?
ANSWER
Expert Michael Lim's Answer:
If you file your own tax return, someone else may also claim you on their tax return.
Usually this is the case when a child earns income, but more than 50% of their support is provided by a parent. In this case, the child can be claimed as a dependent on the parent's tax return (which is usually more beneficial for the parent, as they are probably in a higher tax bracket than the child).
