I opened a home-based business with a partner two years ago. We frequently make trips to each others homes but also travel to conferences and other events every few months. We're wondering what we can deduct as a commuting expense for travel? Is traveling from one of our homes to the other partner's home considered the commute? From a tax standpoint, we're considered a LLC partnership.

ANSWER

Expert Mark Anderson's Answer:

If you are traveling for business, then it is a valid business expense.  You need to make sure that you keep a mileage log.  I hope this answers your question.  Thank you.
