Unfortunately, as of now there are no general relief programs in place for private student loans. However, there is legislation on the table that would allow private loans to be converted into federal loans if the applicant was eligible for a federal loan at the time that they initially took the private loan. In addition, there isn't an option to consolidate loans with other lenders. However, we would recommend that the borrower negotiate directly with the lender by contacting them.
