I worked as a 1099 salesman in Illinois for a Utah company. The 1099 is from Utah company. I am a New Jersey resident. To which state do I pay income tax?

ANSWER

The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:

You technically need to file in both Illinois via a non-resident tax return and in New Jersey via resident tax return as you have tax nexus in both states. However, you can claim a tax credit in New Jersey for any taxes you paid out of state in Illinois on the same income.
