We own an electronics store in St. Petersburg, Alaska. We collect sales tax as per the municipality's local sales tax law. Are there any exemptions we should note?

ANSWER

The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:

Yes, you should be mindful that local senior citizens that are residents of St. Petersburg, Alaska mare exempt from sales tax. This would be anyone 65 years of age or older with a valid sales tax exemption card. There are a few exceptions to note though that don't appear to impact your electronics business. For instance, the exclusion does not apply to alcohol or tobacco products or items purchased for a trade or business.
