We have a pet boarding franchise in Minnesota. Should we be charging sales tax for the boarding fee when staying overnight?
ANSWER
The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:
They are not taxable if a licensed veterinarian provided health care and the animal is being kept overnight for observation purposes. However, charges for lodging, boarding, and care services for animals (except horses) are taxable if not due to a veterinary procedure as previously stated.
