Can you convert part of a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA and then do it again over a period of several years, to keep from going into a higher tax bracket? In other words, don't just do the conversion one time, but spread it out over several years.

ANSWER

The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:

Yes, you can convert any or all of your traditional IRA to a Roth IRA in any given year, assuming are eligible to convert in the first place.  There were special rules for 2010 as far as conversion elegibilty was concerned, but as for now, the conversion limits are back in place.  Please see the Roth IRA section of IRS publication 590 to determine if you are eligible.
