I have a friend who was told that he could claim head of household because he is covering his 19 year old daughter's health insurance. Is this true?

We need more specifics regarding your friend's tax filing situation. Is your friend unmarried? Is health insurance the only amount of expenses your friend covers? Do they cover more than 50% of the household expenses? Is their child a full-time student or disabled and do they live with your friend for more than half the year? These are all questions that need to be answered. Health insurance alone wouldn't be a reason to claim head of household.
