If I qualify to file as head of household, can I file as single instead?

ANSWER

The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:

Yes: if you are not married, you can file as a "single" taxpayer.

However, if you qualify for "head of household" status, you

should file as such, because the standard deduction amount,

for "head of household" status, is greater than the standard

deduction amount, that is attributable to a "single" status

taxpayer.
