I am recently married and my Husband has back tax issues. He put me on as a shareholder in August 2008 of his company. Could I become liable for his past tax problems, including those of 2008. I filed in '08 as married, filing separately.

ANSWER

The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:

You are not liable for his tax debts that were incurred, before the year

in which you got married. However, you must preserve your annual tax refund,

by continuing to file separately, until his prior tax debts are paid, in full.
