If I file my tax return and it is accepted, can I get a tax refund for half and be told that the IRS is auditing me and keeping the other half of my check until the audit is over?
ANSWER
The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:
No: your prposed fact pattern is not plausible. If the return
is accepted, your refund will be remitted, in accordance with the
filed tax return. If it is adjusted, you will receive written notice, of the
adjustment, and you will be given an opportunity to challenge the
proposed adjustment. If the return is selected for audit, you will
not receive the refund, until the audit is concluded, and you accept the
audit findings.
