I have a child that was under the age of 17 until Mid-December of 2008. How come my child is not partially eligible for a child Tax Credits. The government's definition of being an adult is inconsistent with the IRS tax law? Please advise on any potential Tax Creditss available as a result of caring for my child.
ANSWER
The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:
See IRC 152(c). The child must be younger than age 17, to qualify for the referenced credit.
The child must also be a US citizen, national, or resident, of the US [see IRC 24(c)].
