I used TurboTax and I wanted to deduct $881 for union dues and was unable to do so. Is this deduction allowed to be taken or not?

ANSWER

The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:

Union dues are deductible on Schedule A, of your Form 1040, as a misc.

itemized deduction. However, only the amount that is in excess of 2%

of your adjusted gross income [AGI] is deductible. Conversely, if you are

self-employed, the amount is deducted on Schedule C, of your Form 1040.
