My GI Bill benefits were paid directly to the university I attend on my behalf. Can I deduct education expenses paid by the benefits?

If you're reimbursed for education expenses, you can't claim those expenses. Thus, you won't be able to claim a tax credit or deduction. However, your education expenses might be more than your reimbursement. If so, you might be eligible for a credit for the amount you weren't reimbursed.
