If I pay doctors out of my own pocket and don't have health insurance, can I deduct those expenses?

ANSWER

The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:

You may be able to claim an itemized deduction for your medical expenses.  According to IRS Publication 502, you can deduct medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income.  For instance, if your AGI is $40,000, then 7.5% of your AGI is $3,000. If you paid $3,500 in medical expenses, you could claim $500 as an itemized deductiion.  You could claim this deduction on line 38 of your form 1040.
