Can I still claim my medical insurance premiums on my 2013 tax return if the premiums were for the 2012 tax year?

Unfortunately, you cannot claim medical expenses from the prior tax year. You can only claim medical expenses in the year in which you pay them. So if you paid the premiums with after-tax dollars in 2012, you must amend your 2012 return to claim those premiums on Schedule A.
