Is tuition to a private school deductible and what is required to deduct it?

See IRC 222. Tuition paid to a post-secondary institution may be deductible; up to $4K;

if your AGI is $65K, or less [$130K, or less, of married filing jointly]. The deduction

is disallowed, if either of the educational credits is claimed.
